B. Smith's in Sag Harbor had a great water view, too, but I don't think it's there anymore - is it?
It is still there. The view is much better than the food though IMHO. lol. Nice place to have some cocktails.

Speaking of that, the best sunset is at East Hampton Point. Go there for drinks at sunset and you wont be disappointed.

You are so right, Jeff Salway. Was he called Nick? Why do I picture him as Nick? I just googled it to see if he was called Nick, and see he passed away in 2001 -- my memory is shot!

I fully agree that the view at B. Smith's is far superior to the food. But, the view makes it worth it -- at least for cocktails and appetizers before dinner somewhere else, or dessert later in the evening. I really like the lovely, gentle feeling of watching the boats and walking on the boardwalk and wharf.

I'm sure some people probably did call him Nick.
The year sounded off to me too. I always associated the timing of his death with 9/11. I also helped save a drowning man caught in a rip tide in the ocean that week. Strange and sad 2 week time period. At least the drowning guy lived. He spent a week on a ventilator in the ICU, but he lived.
