That being said, many other 80 year old things I can think of would be collectors items.
The new houses that have gone up in my area (as well as many areas in Queens) are ugly, and the old ones tend to look nice. Especially when not covered in vinyl.

I think since today's market (at least in and near NYC) is 100% a seller's market, so there's no incentive for well crafted houses anymore. Although it seems like the mediocre to bad houses thing started right after WWII.
I walk down Stanton Ave in Baldwin and look at the houses, and think to myself "wow, they do not make them like that anymore".

yup. The meticulously crafted prewar tudors and colonials in RVC are part of the charm, not a drawback!

Kind of a Tudor colonial hybrid. My house is similar.
Interesting. Maybe that wasn't the best example but there are a lot of similar looking nice houses in the area.
This is an interesting (to me) piece of architecture in Baldwin. It looks like a tiny version of the 6 story gingerbread house looking buildings that parts of Manhattan and The Bronx have.
