Wouldn't better bus service take the strain off the LIRR parking lots? What do you do if you can't find a parking spot? You can't just not go to work because of it.
People used to complain about the buses on LI years ago on here, that used to be a hot topic. Guess they gave up on that one.
Buses in highest demand on LI are the ones that go to Queens, haha
N4, N6, N31, N32, N33 definite ones.
Well if they can't even find a place to park a freaking car, which I find crazy and unbelievable, then they need better bus services whether they like it or not.
Check how far you would have to walk to get outside the 2-hour restricted zones. I see people doing it in Massapequa Park, but they walk several blocks, across Sunrise Hwy, etc. That takes time as well.

Is there a bus or bike sharing program they can utilize?
Just what the title says. Need info on parking the car on the street while commuting to work. We currently live in Valley stream but looking to purchase a home a little further east.
First question is which towns should we search in??. - good schools, no flood zones, no ranch houses. Budget at 600k
Second question is. Whats the law of parking your car on a residential block and walking to train station?? I would preferably say nassau county.

The parking permits are about $10 a year in most towns ... why not just get the permit, IMO?
Usually you can't park on residential streets b/c the neighbors don't want it. You may have to walk a long time. Street parking is usually pretty far from the train where it is legal to park.

Do parking permits guarantee you a spot? Do you have to reside in same township and/or hamlet as station location?

I think you have to be a resident of the township, not necessarily the hamlet ... at least for TOH but places like Baldwin for example have TOH lots and then also just Baldwin resident lots.

No it doesn't guarantee a spot
Thanks.
I wonder if the Ronkonkoma station would have separate lots for Brookhaven, Islip, and Smithtown residents.
