LIRR best option
Hey everyone. So I'm now living in East Meadow, seems nice so far. I wanted opinions on the best/quickest LIRR route into the city for work. I'm thinking I could drive a few mins to the Wantagh station, but not sure if you pay to park there or need a permit or what. And I don't think going to Merrick or Bellmore station would be better. I would be leaving early morning I guess 6 or 7ish. Thanks.

What about the Hicksville Station? My sister lives in East Meadow and while she does not commute to Manhattan, anyone that visits from the city come to Hicksville.

Hicksville has more trains running since the Ronkonkoma and Huntington lines go through there. The only problem is that you need to be a Town of Oyster Bay resident to get a parking permit. You would have to park in the Broadway Mall or in the street if you could find parking.

Mazel tov!
For those who may not be familiar with East Meadow:
East Meadow is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the northeast section of the Town of Hempstead, in the central part of Nassau County, along the Hempstead/North Hempstead town line.
Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of East Meadow in the Town of Hempstead is bordered on the north by the Village of Westbury in the Town of North Hempstead (the Hempstead/North Hempstead town line); on the east by the Hamlet of Salisbury and the Hamlet of Levittown; on the south by the Hamlet of North Bellmore and the Hamlet of North Merrick; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Uniondale and the Hamlet of East Garden City.
The Hamlet of East Meadow has a different border than does the "East Meadow, NY 11554" ZIP Code postal zone (a place can be in the Hamlet of East Meadow and have other than an "East Meadow, NY 11554" mailing address): a few places in the Hamlet of East Meadow have a "Westbury, NY 11590" mailing address.
For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

Bob, I think most people from east meadow go to teh bellmore station.
Wantagh you need a permit, as mentioned before Hicksville you need a permit (i didn't know that).
I'm in wantagh and still go to bellmore because I'm too lazy to get a permit.

Westbury train station also works but again parking is a problem around there as well.

You don't need a permit for Merrick, either, so it's an option if you can't find a spot in Wantagh.
