Westchester doesn't have to worry about turning into the next Queens because they live in their little own rich person world. So disconnected from the real world. They still have restrictive covenants in Westchester. I guess that's what the one percenters want.

You have a weird definition of "culturally connected".
And if you read my post, which I assume you did, you would note that i specifically singled out Suffolk, in response to your original post mentioning Nassau and Suffolk.
Yes and every time something happens which people don't like in Suffolk, people are worried about Suffolk "turning into Queens". More people from Queens and Brooklyn are moving to Suffolk since the prices are cheaper and you have those who first fled Queens, then are fleeing Nassau for Suffolk because Nassau is "turning into Queens". Without NYC, Long Island wouldn't be what it is today and you wouldn't have the Long Island you see today.

The north shore of Nassau isn't really WASPy. Rich towns like Great Neck, Roslyn and Manhasset have many white ethnics. The WASP types would likely prefer to be in Greenwich, CT or Chappaqua or Bronxville or Larchmont as opposed to being in Manhasset. Manhasset is more like Garden City and even a wealthier version of RVC compared to any WASPy CT. NJ or Westchester community.

BTW, Brooklyn and Queens, while legally part of NYC, are not what many people consider to be "the city". That is reserved for Manhattan. Suffolk is more "culturally connected" to Brooklyn and Queens than it is to Manhattan, for sure.

Suffolk being more connected to Brooklyn/Queens compared to Manhattan is something I agree with you on. The thing with Rockland County is that you don't hear people complaining that their town is "turning into Queens" or "turning into the Bronx". Rockland politicans don't even run on a platform of Rockland not being a sixth borough of NYC the way Nassau/Suffolk politicans do. It's like Long Islanders tend to be fixated on the fear of Queens/Brooklyn, like Queens/Brooklyn is going to grow legs, come and bite each and every Nassau/Suffolk resident.
Long Island, 1401 square miles of identity crisis.
Instead of worrying about becoming the next Queens or being better than Westchester everyone should worry about making Long Island incredible again.

What don't you comprehend, Westchester was the original suburb and its design is based on those that created commuting to work on the train, she is also home to the World HQ of Pepsi, IBM and General Foods among others. Long Island didn't enter the mix until after WWII with the invention of tract housing and you see what that has brought you. Of course the aviation industry has been driven out of LI and overpaid public service employees are now the golden ticket of working where you live.

Long Island didn't enter the mix until after WWII with the invention of tract housing and you see what that has brought you. Of course the aviation industry has been driven out of LI and overpaid public service employees are now the golden ticket of working where you live.
