Let’s hope Town of Hempstead capitalizes on this tax revenue.

Give them a year and they'll be justifying a tax increase to cover the loss over taking the moral high ground...

They capitulated to a vocal minority. It is absolutely shameful that they've been highly restrictive in where medical marijuana dispensary's can be located; and, that a patient can't use their medical marijuana inside the dispensary. Again capitulating to a vocal minority. This from the Town that doesn't blink about spending $380,000 for a dog park (on the grounds of the Tully Rec Center).

I think it's a pretty good idea actually. Keep the recreational dispensaries a town over(medical ones are still going to be open). It's not like smoking at home will be illegal, you just have to drive 10 min to get it. Keep the rift raft out

I look at the state of NY and think that this is the easiest way to alleviate tax burdens, specifically property tax burdens, on middle to lower class folks around the Island. The nicest towns will never let a sports book or marijuana dispenser in. HOwever, Sports betting and marijuana are new decriminalized, legalized industries in states right next door. The industries can be taxed at enormous rates, upwards of 40%. For everyone up in arms about property/school taxes, this is a way to offset tax burdens.

Makes no sense...... This is 2019. You know what. The vocal minority votes. So they get what they want.

Do you really think any of that money will go to tax relief for the tax payers? HAHAHAHAHA

Exactly. With that logic, there shouldn't be any school taxes because of the state lotteries.

Are you people OK??
NY state is one of the richest on this planet. If they taxed them well enough every school would be top notch and at least the kids would have a good ground to start from.

To think the Pot tax would fix any problems is hilarious. There is not lack of tax revenue. There is lack of politicians who will fight for the people

Oh wait. Politicians work for the upper class . They just play the game. Pelosi is real good at it. Shes 85.
