I'd be interested to hear how you think these two towns compare to one another? Schools, feel, lifestyle, pricing, type of people, do children play in the streets, etc. We've visited and been comfortable in both. I particularly liked Plainview when we went yesterday, though it was just a one-day visit.
Also, are there rentals in both/either? We'd probably like to rent before we buy this time. |

Is Plainview more expensive simply because it's Nassau County, then?
I just looked at the rentals on Craig's List. Bleak. I can't imagine moving out of our home and renting anything I saw listed. :-( |

IMO....both are very alike.......both great areas to raise a family. Suffolk is alittle cheaper and alittle more space. Good luck!

I grew up and still live in Plainview and played roller/street hockey and wiffle ball in the street all the time as a child.

I would never think of comparing those two towns. True, there are less trees and more ranches in Plainview, but I still prefer it hands down.

My vote is for Plainview..we just moved there and so far, so good! We actually have a good amount of trees where we are and a nice sized home...schools are spoken of highly as well

Quote:
- good schools - no real "downtown" but many large shopping centers on main roads - close to major north/south highways I do see children playing in the streets here in Commack often if that helps. There are two rental apartment complexes I can think of in Commack - Fairfield (entrance is on east side of Commack Rd, just south of Jericho Tpke), and Mayfair Apartments on Jericho Tpke , just east of Sagtikos Parkway. |
