I would love a commute East instead of West. Is the work on 39 complete?

Its 46 miles each way. I start work most days at 8:30am & I usually finish up by 7pm. When we first moved out here I could almost always make it there in exactly an hour if I took Sunrise Hwy & I don't drive over 70MPH ever. As time has past it has become a longer ride, often close to 1.5 hours especially in the morning. More than the time my carbon footprint was really starting to bother me, I tried everything to offset it but I already live so "green" it was impossible. I looked into taking the train, it was impossible to find trains that fit my schedule & I'd still need to drive down the Shirely station. I looked into carpooling & added my name to many lists & never found anyone that was a match.
In January I purchased a Toyota Prius and now I have the luxury of only using less than 1 gallon of gas each way, partial zero emmisions and I get to go in the HOV lane during peak times by myself. Now I'm getting there in the morning in 50 minutes unless there is a major problem in the LIE & one night last week I made it home in 45 minutes. Again, I don't drive faster than 70 ever.

yep ; the drive from Medford which is exit 65 on the LIE will take 35-40 mins to get to Southampton.

My dh does it every day and it is WONDERFUL.

now it means he leaves home at 6;15 instead of 5;45am and he still gets to work by 7am. I even did it today to bring him lunch (arent I good) and it took only 40 mins at 10am.
