Glen Head is a lovely town and everyone there knows everyone.... Small Town USA. Close to the charm of Seacliff and not to far from shopping in Greenvale, Roslyn. The school system is fantastic. You are very lucky to move to such a great place!
Best Wishes

Here's a tip: more than 7 out of every 8 places with a "Glen Head, NY 11545" mailing address (covers an area of 8,366 acres) are not in Glen Head (1,068 acres).
For those who may not be familiar with Glen Head:
Glen Head is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the northwest part of the Town of Oyster Bay, in the north-central part of Nassau County.
Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of Glen Head in the Town of Oyster Bay is bordered on the north by the City of Glen Cove; on the east by the Village of Matinecock; on the south by the Village of Old Brookville and the Hamlet of Glenwood Landing; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Glenwood Landing and the Village of Sea Cliff.
Glen Head is one of those villages and hamlets on Long Island where the majority of the places with the community name in their mailing address are not in the hamlet: places with a "Glen Head, NY 11545" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Glen Head are in the Village of Matinecock, the Village of Old Brookville, the Village of Brookville, the Village of Upper Brookville, the Village of Old Westbury, the Hamlet of East Norwich, the Village of Muttontown and the Hamlet of Glenwood Landing.
For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

Heard nothing but good things. Make sure you're in North Shore SD and NOT Glen Cove. It's a big difference. The only reason why we didn't look even harder than we did was we didn't know about NS SD at the time. Also, my wife thought it was very North, but I don't think it's bad at all.
Congrats. I think you'll enjoy it.

Glen Cove is one of the few places on LI where the school district's borders exactly match the borders of the city. The schools for 99.9% of Glen Head are North Shore. If it's one of the other places Walter mentioned that aren't in Glen Head but have a Glen Head address, the schools are either Jericho or Locust Valley.
Gray lines are municipal boundaries, green lines school districts:

North Shore is a very nice district at the elementary level. Once you reach middle school, depending on WHO your kids hang out with will determine if they will be successful in school.North Shore is a tremendous mix of people from all different levels.I find ALOT of kids are very unmotivated.Glen Head s a great town where they still have the best baseball parade every year.It is a very friendly place.Good LUck.

Depending where you live in Glen Head you could go to Glen wood Landing elementary or Glen Head elementary school..the reason is that most of Glen Head used to be Glen wood Landing..Glen Wood School has Glen Head address..Both schools are fine . I have had 2 children through the middle school no problem. My children are the 6th generation living here . and most locals complain about how much its gotten built up but thats everywhere. your moving into a nice area don't worry
