gated communities?
hey guys..are there any gated community town houses or apartments in a very nice part of long island? i'm looking for luxury rentals in a gated community..let me know if you know of any!! thanks so much

We have probably seen them all. IN jericho there is the Hunt Club, and the hamlet--which are nice. (we felt the hunt club's clubhouse was rundown and have heard rumors that the hamlet structurally had problems.) In Roslyn there is The Summit in High Point. We liked some of these properties very much but found some of the residents snobby and unfriendly. There are some gated comunities in Manhasset that are very pricey 1.5 mil and up that usually need a good amount of work. In North Hills in a stunning new gated community called The Chatham---very very pricey but everything imaginable. We didn't love the schools. Write me in private if you need more info/help. Stonebridge in Smithtown, 1.2 million & up
Some of the gated communities in the Dix Hills/Melville area are: The Greens at Half Hollow (55 & above), Country Pointe at Dix Hills, The Legends at Half Hollow, Sweet Hollow Farms in Melville, Northgate Condominiums, The Villas, Alley Pond Estates and for rentals: Avalon Bay in Melville. For waterfront there is Harbour Point in Northport,

Again, all of the gated communities I mentioned offer rentals as well. The chatham which is probably the most luxurious I have seen and people rent for $8K a month i believe...

Are there any gated communities (Nassau or Suffolk) which would have houses for < 500K? I guess the answer is NO at least for Nassau, but still wanted to check...

I live in a gated community in Bay Shore. There are a bunch out this way and all are nice and under 500K. The town is really cute and has lots of restaurants.

avalon is rentals...and there is more than one...melville is def. gated, not sure about the others.
