The one thing I do not like about living out here is that there is no direct access to major parkways.
We have to go down 347 to Nicolls, then take the LIE.
Or take 112 (which is a nightmare) to LIE.
Or 347 to the Northern (which is a 2 lane disaster).
Which is why we try to get everyone we know and love to come out here! LOL
This may be getting off topic, but how is it that when we drive 65-70 MPH on the LIE, we still get people honking us to speed up (when we're in the right lane)? I swear, getting on that thing is like playing Russian Roullette.

The other poster kind of made my point but I am just in off the northern state right as 347 begins, so access is not an issue for me. Many Suffolk towns do have easy access. I suppose it is the trade off of being closer to the shores. It is also why I could not move further east on the north shore simply due to commute, although I love your area. I do not believe your situation is much different than those on the south shore of Nassau County, say Long Beach for instance, or maybe an Oceanside, who need to sit on a backed up sunrise highway or take a "stop and go" Long Beach Road to get to any parkways. Of course the advantage to their location is also being on the ocean, so it is a fine trade-off for those who's family and work commutes suit their location. Same can be said for being far north in Plandome or Port Washington if you have ever had to battle Searingtown Road. We are constantly back and forth to areas like Massapequa, Bellerose, Little Neck, etc, and find that our weekend family commutes are just as quick, although further mileage wise, than when we sat on the Southern State. I still get a cold chill when I see the sign for Eagle Avenue....that exit backs up in either direction even if it is 4:30 in the morning...
