And yet my SIL is from the Pittsburgh, Pa area and he absolutely LOVES Long Island...the beaches, proximity to the city, etc.!!

(And I think the poster meant "doozy", rhymes with Susie. LOL)

Long Island may have high taxes but compared to what you get in other areas of the nation it seems worth it to me now. My wife and I live in NC now and I really miss L.I.

It is true, I am moving back to LI from Wichita KS. You really do get what you pay for in terms of public education.

What so ironic is that....if you read so many of the other threads and the put-downs about long island and so many of it's towns which I find appalling....it's refreshing to see people actually sticking up for long island for a change!

you're crazy...like any place, there are good and bad areas of a county...I would not make a blanket statement that the entire suffolk county is crappy...as some of the other posters listed, some towns are not as desirable...but most of Suffolk County is beautiful...shout out to West Islip..my hometown!

I agree, nice to see. That's why I haven't been frequenting the boards as much, maybe it's time for a "comeback."

Also of note, as with many bashers, this person doesn't even LIVE here. Once again, hello, nice to meet you...if you hate this place, don't spend your time trolling and being nasty.
