Well in 2 weeks I will be camping at Smith Point. This will be one of 5 weeks we have reserved. No trailor. We do tent camping. I love it. We are close enough to go home every day to water the plants etc & feel like we have a little place on the beach ourselves.
& no we don't live in the Shirley/Mastic area but I do work there occasionally it is one of the buildings my company sends me to. & twice I have left my Mastic building at lunch to find the street surrounded by police, snipers, dogs etc. Yet I do feel safe in the neighborhood & I love Handy Pantry. |

Enjoy your camping trip! Years ago we used to camp out on the outer beach -- I so miss those days. It was wonderful to wake early in the morning to the sound of gulls and crashing waves, unzip the tent and take a short stroll to the water's edge.
I can smell the salt water now...... |

I just got back from a week at my house in Amagansett. I guess I would be considered a "summer person", although we really go out all year long. I am also friends with a lot of the locals, which often comes in handy. I think a lot of the type A NYC people give all the 2nd home owners a bad name. I find them rude and obnoxious myself. Not all of them. Just the ones that dont know how to relax and "smell the roses".
The natural beauty of the place is second to none. I grew up going to the Jersey shore, but the Hamptons are a whole different ballgame. I love sitting on the deck with a book and watching the ocean. Taking the kids for walks on the beach. And the golf is phenomenal out there. It sucks being back in NJ right now. I'm glad I still have three more weeks vacation this summer, and there is always the weekends. ![]() |
