Smile Tanger Outlet opening soon

This is only for inveterate shoppers, I guess. The Tanger Mall seems to be coming along and the descriptions of its open air shops and tree-lined plazas sound wonderful.

Could they not come up with a different name or are they tied to the one at the end of the LIE out east?

Yes. It is the same company as the one in Riverhead. There are many of these outlets all over the country, actually.

Default For those who may not be familiar with Deer Park

The Tanger Mall is in the Hamlet of Deer Park.

For those who may not be familiar with Deer Park:

Deer Park is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the northeast part of the Town of Babylon, inside the almost right angle formed by the Babylon/Huntington and Babylon/Islip town lines in the southwest part of Suffolk County.

Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of Deer Park in the Town of Babylon is bordered on the north by the Hamlet of Dix Hills in the Town of Huntington (the Babylon/Huntington town line); on the east by the Hamlet of Brentwood and the Hamlet of Baywood in the Town of Islip (the Babylon/Islip town line); on the south by the Hamlet of North Babylon; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Wyandanch and the Hamlet of Wheatley Heights.

The Hamlet of Deer Park has a different border than does the "Deer Park, NY 11729" postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Deer Park, NY 11729" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of Deer Park and a place can have other than a "Deer Park, NY 11729" mailing address and be in the Hamlet of Deer Park): places that have a "Deer Park, NY 11729" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Deer Park are in the Hamlet of Wyandanch; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Deer Park with a "Wyandanch, NY 11798" mailing address.

For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

I think its so weird that they are building the one in Deer Park. Tons of people come to Riverhead from NYC & NJ to shop at Tanger, now they'll only go as far as Deer Park.
I'm wondering what affect that will have on the Riverhead location.

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering what the status of the project was. I personally cannot wait. I think it sounds wonderful and like something we don't have on LI to this day. Very excited over here!

I did read previously they will have a Neiman Marcus Last Call at the Deer Park outlets. It will be the only Neiman Marcus on LI, unless the mall at Oyster Bay gets built (where they want to be build a Neiman Marcus, not the Last Call one either).

Since I will be retired by then & only live about five miles away (right down Deer Park Road) , this is a place that I am very excited to have near by. Riverhead is too far to go for a day trip . It almost makes up for Stew Leonard's never opening .
