It's a public service worker's dream with plenty of well paying opportunities at the village, town and county levels.

The bagels. Oh my goodness, the bagels. When we are in town, it's a solid week of bagels.

ALL of the above... especially the bagels & pizza... plus great schools, lots of job opportunity, beaches, beaches, beaches, shopping everywhere if you want it, and don't forget sporting events (with 9 'local' major sports teams)... so much to do.

My wife taught in Florida and Chicago, and nothing compares to what we've seen here on Long Island. Strong schools take money. It is just that simple.
I live the Northport Library. It has more volumes than the university I first worked at, and it is better staffed. I love my block. The ice cream truck comes down the road and families flood the street. Moms block the culdesac at the end of the road so kids can play. Moms know each other. They all hang out together. I like Sergeant Teehan, who got the drug dealer off my street. I like that I can drive 5 minutes to pick apples and 20 minutes to take a wine tour. I love Sunken Meadow beach, and have the most wonderful pictures of my son there. Love it. I love Pats Market on the corner of Pulaski and Larkfield. It has great produce at terrific prices. I love how all of the baseball fields are crammed with people on Friday and Saturday. The dads teach their kids while other dads and moms fill the stands, even on cold wet days. Should I keep going? |

The weather got even BETTER since I posted before. Also I have to say i have the best neighbors across the street and they are a reason why I love where I live. So I add:
the people (when they are good they are awesome)!!! |

Getting veggies from the farms out east.
camping at Hither Hills Eating at LUNCH not because of the food (so so) but just because we can!!! Eating at Flo's in Blue Point because of the food and we are starving from hanging at Corey beach all day! Eating at The Steamroom in PJ one day and in Manhattan at Mesa Grill the next Why did all my positives turn to food LOL? |

After spending 6 yrs in FL, we've been back for almost a year now. There's a lot to be said for the changing seasons. And the pizza of course.
