Why is it that NY bagels cannot be duplicated? Is it the water?

What I always liked about Long Island is the sense of identity people have with the place. I haven't noticed the same connection anywhere else.

Actually we have pretty good bagels where we are in NC. Just not the same as NY. I don't really know if its the water. I think it must be. Pizza is also pretty good(I was surprised) it is like regular NY pizza. I just miss the sauce from my fav LI place. I will be visiting my parents in June so I will get my fix.

No major weather issues like cyclones or tornados, earthquakes, major hurricanes, we're hardly even gettin' snow anymore
<-Remind you of The Christmas Story ?

I been all over the country. Long Island has the best food, hands down. Nowhere else is even close. One great thing about diversity. The beaches are amazing plus my family lives there. So, living in Northern Michigan, what I miss most about LI is the food, family, & ocean beaches. Lake Michigan has great beaches but more people & energy on LI.

Pizza and bagels (very good both) I can get here...The supermarkets are well stocked with various stations like bagels, a deli, bakery, excellent seafood, no complaints there.

I miss the awesome library system in Suffolk County!! It's sucks here in this part of Vermont. Our library is like a closet. Seriously. 2 books on every subject, barely any kids books. No cd roms or computer games. Old VCR tapes and strangely eclectic dvd collection.

I used to get a ton of great, new movies at the library in NY for free, the best new books, and so on.

So, if you are on LI, I envy you for your....libraries..

TY Peter and Gypsy for coming back and saying nice things about LI instead of busting our chops!!!

While I'm on the thread I would like to add another thing I love about LI: the variety of beautiful plants, trees and flowers that grow well here!
