Default Scenic area close to Garden City

Hi again!

We currently live in Ozone Park about 15 minutes from the Rockaway boardwalk. We enjoy going to the boardwalk occasionally. While we love Garden City, I know we're going to have to give up that short, traffic free ride to the boardwalk. I'm wondering what the closest most scenic, relaxing place to GC might be. Also - what's the story with Hempstead Lake? Is that an option?

TIA again!

Hempstead Lake is mostly part of Malverne School District, which isn't the greatest.

You can also hop on the Meadowbrook at Stewart Ave. and shoot down to the beaches, pretty quickly. Well at off times, which tend to be the most scenic anyway w/o all the ugly bathers. J/K!

There's a beautiful boardwalk in Long Beach! It's around 30 minutes away from GC by car. Twice in the summer Long Beach also has an arts and crafts festival on their boardwalk. I never miss it!

Another nice place even closer to you is Old Westbury Gardens. Beautiful gardens of course. A historic house to tour. Sometimes they also have special events like antique car shows also.
