Bellport/ Patchogue/ Mastic- I am looking to move here and need info!!! (Brookhaven: homes)

I currently live in Queens and am looking to move to one of these areas in the next few months. I need help deciding on a neighborhood. I have read posts that trash mastic/ mastic beach- however some of the homes there look beautiful and are affordable. What about Patchogue or Bellport? Any info at all would help- especially if you live in the area. I am going to mastic and Bellport this weekend to check it out. HELP!!!

Of the three I think the consensus on this board is that Patchogue has the brightest story at the moment, as the downtown area has made a nice comeback and they are continuing to make improvements. I do believe that Bellport south of Montauk is very nice, although you may find that a number those homeowners do not send their kids to the public schools. And if you are seeing a lot of beautiful homes that are surprisingly affordable compared to other areas (in Mastic for instance) there might be a reason. I do not have any personal experience with Mastic, although it certainly has a negative reputation. I have some older family in Bellport, and I do find myself in Patchogue a few times a year for a summer festival or night out with friends/family, etc. Is there a reason it has to be one of these three towns??

The main reason is affordability. Paying a mortgage by myself means I have much fewer options. I would love to own in Queens but its just not an option with the prices. I would be open to more areas if I can afford but unfortunately its just me and these areas are the ones that have come up cnsistently in my ionline search.

i am from mastic i moved to pa though in may of 06, my parents made a move when I was in 10th grade, I found Mastic to be nice, although there are times with problems due to the reservation but the police been cracking down, they have more and more uncover police officers looking after that area. Also I enjoying going to William Floyd School's.

I will go with Jrprfess on this one. Out of the 3 I would go with Patchogue. But make your own decision. As always, go out on foot patrol day and night. See what areas you like and dont like. Patchogue has some really nice areas. Good luck!

ridge is really a nice town!
