Do you ever turn off the news? Serious question. You need to get some fresh air!
The hospitals been short staffed, cash strapped and employees worked like mules for years now. Not just be side of Covid.
The pandemic is quite the different work load for hospitals, we never saw anything like this before. The good news is that NY is doing better than most states. But back to the point, the vaccine requirement is not creating the shortage as insinuated by the OP.

Agreed, but that's because hospitals often operate as a for-profit entity (which I'm not against) and have not adequately prepared for a wide spread event like this. I honestly don't know how they really could have without increasing staff size (coverage is needed while staff is being trained) and burning a lot of cash. In a way this is training in real time.
Also many people think that you just wave a wand and suddenly every doctor and nurse is set for working in ICU.
New York State has required the MMR vaccination or proof of immunity for all students in K-12 for about 40 years. They also have required other vaccinations as they've been developed. Even college students at NYS colleges are required to show proof of vaccination or proof of immunity if they take more than a certain number of credit hours.
So, what are you waiting for? Hit the road, dude.
...the Covid vax is what we're not giving our <12 yr old kids. Not the old and cold vaxes, which they are fully up to date on. I suspect you realize that though since this entire thread is about the covid vax?
Most of the health care worker shortage is due to burnout because of the unvaccinated. Although the will be some that quit if required to vaccinate this claim this will create a shortage of healthcare worker is just anti-vax nonsense. Hospital systems across the country have already passed the requirement in other states and resignations have been minimal.
There is always a nursing shortage but the biggest problem is the unvaccinated swamping hospitals so badly that they need set up tents in parking garages.
If you really want to help out the vaccinate.
You got tents set up out on Long Island, do you? Are they pup tents?
What "people" other than you and some of your fellow anti-vaxxers?
I guess you dont have a job. Nobody wants to be forced to vaccinate - its anti-American, and illegal. The Patients Bill of Rights was instituted under President Obama and Vice President Biden to protect Americans from such archaic 'strong-arm' practices.
Gotta love how many have villainized health care workers who have not, or will not, do the shot. These are the same “heroes” who were working their asses off when there WAS NO SHOT. Now they’re no good, selfish, whiny, potential murderers. Some people really make me sick. Pun intended. Really.
Yeah some of you are really disgusting excuses for human beings.
I'm not gonna villianize them. But there's an old joke: what do you call the person who graduated last in their class from medical school?

Answer:doctor
same with nurses. They aren't ALL the brightest bulbs in the pack. My niece's husband is a doctor; there are people who don't even match for their residencies.
