He doesn't have a set limit on commute time. Obviously the closer the better though.
There are 3 homes in Dix Hills all on close to an acre. in the 1/2 acre area this about as close as your going to get w/o going way way east or finding some absolute disaster that needs to be torn down in Nassau.
taxes on 2 of these with star will be in the 11k range, very low for that much land on LI

I love the bickering. It's like a coffee clatch with chatting while half yelling, just like family!
This is definitely daunting & possibly not a smart move. Thanks for the suggestions & I will think about everything.
Yes that Oakfield one looks too good to be true. Thanks for your help!
It’s priced fair. Possibly may have some exterior road noise from LIE or deer park ave. it’s very close to commack it’s the end of Dix hills. If that house was in north Dix hills it would be Listed for 150k more. Area is nice my cousin looked at a home 2 min walk from that home that sold for 1.25m they offered 975k not even close!!!
Should have brought 3 years ago when you posted about a budget for Nassau for 600k. Now your buying at the height of the market possibly . You missed out on hundreds of thousands of equity by waiting 3 years unfortunately. Maybe you wait it out ? 2018-2019 might have been the best time to invest recently for a family.

If you can please let me know what you think commute times might be for where you suggest b/c this is the kind of thing a map doesn't really help with & I need you guys. Thanks!

Meh. Sucks, but there’s no crystal ball for the market.
I don’t think anyone expected it to go nuclear like it has.
It’s always, always a gamble. Unless you know for certain it’s your forever home and don’t care about values.
But for most, a house is not a home, it’s an investment.

I agree. But if the poster had followed through it would have been perfect timing. I got lucky enough In the same time period thankfully.
I have family looking to buy now. It’s a gamble. Is this the height ? Noone knows. Imagine the original poster 3 years post they have a 1.3 million budge. Tough times
