Looking at a property in the Great River area. How is this area on safety? Good place to raise young children? Decent schools? Specifically the area between SSP and Great River Rd, just north of Timber Point/Heckscher. Grew up in Nassau and not too familiar with the area.

Great River is safe. Schools are fine (East Islip). It's kind of an isolated area, but you're right by the SSP and Sunrise so you can get to points east or west pretty easily.

The area is nice and the schools are fine. It's a little isolated as someone else said, but probably in a good way.

Only 4 houses listed on MLS. ALL have 20k in property taxes. Ouch!

The "Great River" area comprises more than one area. South Great River is the area south of the Sunrise Highway, North Great River is north of the Sunrise. Are you referring to the former, latter, or both?

^ The op clearly stated the area in their post.

South Great River is a nice, peaceful spot. Tucked away but with easy highway access.
