Deer Park Updates?
This may be a stretch but is there anyone on the forum from Deer Park who has lived there a long time?
I'm just curious to know how its changed over the years.
I was born 'n raised in Deer Park. Went to school there (George Washington Elementary, JFK Middle School, Robert Frost Jr. HS and Deer Park High Schoo) & hated it (always felt like I belonged elsewhere). Couldn't wait to get out. Never strayed too far though going to college on Long Island and buying my first home in Massapequa until finally moving to California a few years back. Looking back I really miss Long Island and curious about my hometown.
Anyone?

This is almost completed...
The Arches
Other than that, I've heard it's mostly pretty good with a couple of maybe not so great sections.

I grew up about 2 minutes from Deer Park Avenue and live pretty close now. It looks the same, lots of strip malls, Olympic Diner, people hanging out on a Fri-Sat night. I don't think much has changed except now there are houses that have sold for sell for 500-600k-crazy right??

Guess I sold my father's house (which I inherited) too soon. Sold it shortly after I moved in '04 for just under $400K, but I was renting it and it was hard to manage long distance.
The Tangier Outlet is being built down on Commack Rd near Nichols Rd, right? I grew up further south between Commack & Carlls Path

Its supposed to be but I haven't seen anything about it yet. I had friends who grew up off Old Country Road by the middle school. I think real estate on LI is insane. There are people who bought houses off Straight Path for 675k.

For those who may not be familiar with Deer Park
For those who may not be familiar with Deer Park:
Deer Park is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the northeast part of the Town of Babylon, inside the almost right angle formed by the Babylon/Huntington and Babylon/Islip town lines in the southwest part of Suffolk County.
Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of Deer Park in the Town of Babylon is bordered on the north by the Hamlet of Dix Hills in the Town of Huntington (the Babylon/Huntington town line); on the east by the Hamlet of Brentwood and the Hamlet of Baywood in the Town of Islip (the Babylon/Islip town line); on the south by the Hamlet of North Babylon; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Wyandanch and the Hamlet of Wheatley Heights.
The Hamlet of Deer Park has a different border than does the "Deer Park, NY 11729" postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Deer Park, NY 11729" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of Deer Park and a place can have other than a "Deer Park, NY 11729" mailing address and be in the Hamlet of Deer Park). Those places that have a "Deer Park, NY 11729" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Deer Park are in the Hamlet of Wyandanch; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Deer Park with a "Wyandanch, NY 11798" mailing address.
For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

Yeah, plastic slip covers are more "Queens" than Long Island.

I grew up mostly in North Babylon and have lived in Deer park for the last 12 years. My father in law has lived in Deer park since DPA was 1 lane each way. Anything inparticular you would like to know?
