1. there are enough state parks and bought preserved land on long island to do nothing with already...

2. if you had any idea of what it was you were talking about then you also know of the 6000+ acres, 3000 happens to be already a wildlife refuge and a park.
Another 1000+ was donated for CNC to be and another 900 is already been in place and the remaining 1000 was deemed for entertainment and industrial as part of the terms 11 years ago...

3. the history and heritage of long island happens to be Motorsports, the one thing the island hasn't preserved and this happens to be the perfect place since it is surrounded by property that can not be used to encroach upon it

4. there is nothing on this island that draws business or makes revenue, it would be another stupid blunder to do anything less with the property.

But Hey! you got what you want though right, so screw the one thing everyone else wants, right, what a great selfish un-neighborly out look.

.

Hey man, they never should have closed the race track in the Hamptons, I think long island needs a quarter mile track somewhere so Idiot will stop endangering the lives of others on public streets. I agree with that.
You can never set aside too much land as a preserve.
all human beings do is use up wildlife and land...
If we keep building every time a free parcel of land goes on the chopping block this place will look like Nassau county in no time!
I love open spaces and trees, You know....what Long Island used to be?
Maybe we should stop doing whatever we want and leave mother nature alone for a change.
on the other hand, maybe where the old airport was would be a good spot.... those animals are probably used to loud noises by now
either way you should probably relax a little...

besides, the only way we're truly going to breath life back into this economy is to realize on the whole and the large scale that we have all been duped by the super rich people.
we need to realize that we don't need 14 tv's in the house, we need to stop outsourcing every industry that made this country strong in the interest of making an already rich moron more money.
we have to stop paying ridiculous astronomical salaries to baseball and NFL players, CEO's and such...
no...you don't need to take a helicopter to work, your really not that important anyway.
I love the Yankees but tens of millions of dollars to one man to hit a ball with a stick?
stupid, wasteful.
yet idiots will pay 3 hundred dollars for tickets and 9 dollars for a hot dog.
we have to realize that we were part of an elaborate pyramid scam and no...our houses are not worth what we paid for them.
a 3 bedroom home on a hill around a wicked turn where you get side swiped pulling out of your driveway on a double yellow road marked 30 mph where people drive 50 somewhere deep in the heart of Centerport is not worth 650 thousand dollars just because of the area and the school district.
we have to wake up
It's not just local.
China is attacking Uncle Sam
some of the enemies are inside the gates,
Our economy has received multiple stab wounds and is bleeding out on the floor.
but it's ok with us as long as Fringe is on every Thursday.

I agree with the games part and the houses too... However the economy and motorsports has been a proven economic generator and being with the business we have now doing something with it, we can only continue to build
on it, but as we have and are every year losing more of those industries to other states, the newer elec truck and car comp here now will also leave to a better location around a motorsports facility to test..

So as that happens it will further drain manufacturing and machining, as any indication is being seen now as it happens, china and other countries are becoming what we once were...

Our govt is allowing our country to become a 3rd world country and on a super fast track...

While here local govt hasn't a damned clue how to make or keep anything here, even after being handed tons of research....

But, we got the best schools...... riiiiiiiight ! ! and i got the deed for all the bridges in nys and nj too, pick any 5 for a package deal....

There is very little open space on LI and once its developed it will be gone forever. They have enough issues with ground water pollution and traffic that they can't address. Development of this property is ill conceived.

and Again, the property was already used

As for the open space on long island dwindling, you really need to get out of your house a little more and stop listening to other people scare you or whatever it is that has you believing this need...

Now we have groundwater and traffic issues....surrounded by a salt ocean is one, taking care of your lawn is another, the majority of L.I. having cesspool is another.

During the us open at bridgehampton a few years back, 70,000 made the commute there, 50,000 used exit 71...
There was no traffic concerns or issues at ex 71....

9000 people worked at grumman, now known as epcal, there were no traffic issues...

Take a helo ride over long island, you'll find plenty of open space and plenty of untouched space...

Motorsports facilities for the most part are open spaces, and seasonal use...

Riverhead raceway is still open, well not until next may, there closed for the season since sept...

Hampton was closed due to the new owner not understanding the track he bought was on compatible growth pine barrens area (another well thought up idea) and not understanding that he can't just make alterations or changes on his property at will without 1st going before the pbc (another send me money org) and then submitting plans to the town of SH...

When he tried to update and bring the track forward and add in other components he was stopped, and so the fight begun between him and the town...no working together, just fighting..

What ultimately ended it was the parking issues.
He couldn't alter anything until he got a ok, his thought was i bought and paid, it's mine, i'll do as i wish, the town revoked the parking conditions and ticketed all cars outside the facility...
After a few times with that bs, if you couldn't park inside, you left...

That loses sanctions, so no events come, and then he lost all interest and kinda turned to pos, so that lost some of us, not all of us, a large amount but not all, and then people blame the town of SH and really it wasn't, just a push and shove thing.

When he put it up for sale a few interested motorsports people looked into it, one offered more then he sold for, he turned them down....the other was afraid after being filled in of the war that was started..

Our mistake was allowing it to happen and not forming the association then...

Now we lost WH, and SH has money issues also.... Neither side was smart, unfortunately we sat and watched and really didn't do anything but point and say you did it..
