Worst towns in Long Island
What would you consider to be the worst towns to live in Long Island, security wise? Thank you,

I think that Freeport, Hempstead and Riverhead have the highest rate of violent crime on Long island. There are stats for all types of crime and # of arrests. Long Island on the whole is one of the safest areas of the United States.

I would say Roosevelt...it seems kinda scary over there.
After serving grand jury duty for a whole month (over 60 cases) in nassau, the same areas for felonies keep on coming up. List below is not to insult anyone who resides in these areas & it coulda been just a fluke in regards to these areas
Roosevelt
Hempstead
Westbury
Baldwin
Massapequa
Valley Stream

I'm not sure this thread is really going to contribute anything positive to the forum. It's only going to antogonize and hurt feelings of people living in those towns.

Crime indexes are part of census data and, I think, perfectly valid to want to review when chosing a place to live. I'm sure the speculation on this thread isn't fully accurate and should be cross-checked with actual data, but surely personal safety is on people's minds, no? The initial question is phrased a bit harshly, but factual replies would be useful.
I also think it's easy to view some areas as "bad" and others as "good," but when you look at the actual crime indexes (and know the areas) perception can be far from reality.

Then maybe the OP can check factual data rather than ask for general opinions from people. Once again, people do reside in the towns that some people will just casually list off the top of their head without referring to any sort of data.

I agree, I don't think this thread serves any purpose.
