In the bigger picture, this is not just an issue that one area is facing as opposed to another, what happens five miles west of us might as well be happening here.

Aside from Sayville and Kings Park, which of those areas even have "downtowns"? Wantagh kind of does, but on any weekend night you'll see people pissing on buildings everywhere, fighting over BS, puking up Boss Croker's buffalo wings or cutting up lines of blow in BMWs. Is that any better? Most of the people who relocated on my block are no longer with us, it's a great neighborhood and people stay here a long time. However, judging from conversations I've had over the years, I'm sure that if the demographic shifted to less than an 80% white population this would be a ghost town.

When I think of Levittown back then I think of a Monte Carlo with T-Tops doing burnouts in a parking lot while fifteen kids drink 40s of Olde E and listen to Slayer. The handball courts behind CVS where every week somebody broke into the utility box and kept the lights on 'til 4AM (or whenever the cops showed up), the place behind Tri-County that sold beer to 13 year old kids, the abandoned Village Greens with burned out cars and shattered glass strewn all over the place, the vacant Nassau Mall, the houses that were falling apart and constant fist fights at school. It's a new era for Levittown these days, but there are those of us who still remember and embrace it's white trash roots from the 80s/90s.

Here's a ridiculous video I found on YouTube....dorky as hell, but does this scream "invest money here" either? Is this "gang" less threatening because they're white?

YouTube - TNO: Marching to a Defensive OP in Levittown

Sean, I'm not sure about the towns mentioned in Suffolk County, but every town on the Babylon branch of the LIRR from Valley Stream to Lindenhurst has what could be called a "downtown" area based by the trainstation.

Yeah the schools had rowdy kids, but what schools don't? I didn't remember street gangs, grafitti, etc like here in Westbury.
As far as the trailer park comment I take offence at that, just because the houses were small doesn't mean they weren't well kept. Most ppl in Levittown did live more frugal lifestyles but by no means did they live like slobs. Levittown does look nicer in some spots but Hempstead turnpike has sufferred, IMO. The empty K-Mart is an eyesore. That K-Mart was busy, I remember back when it was T.S.S. and Food Town and we always went there for shopping.
Tri-County Flea market used to be nicer, now it's got more of a Queens feel. So I remember most of Levittown being better in the 80s. Still Levittown is far better than Westbury as a whole, even though the section of Westbury that's west of Post ave and North of the parkway does have nicer homes than Levittown.
As far as the Salisbury section of Westbury, yeah there's alot of Levitt homes there but I think its not as nice as it used to be, as the illegals are bleeding south from New cassel across Old Country road.
I can't imagine how cramped a Levitt flophouse must be!

I was quoting "village of westbury's" comment about Levittown being a trailer park and my entire post contain reasons why he is wrong. I was offended just like you. For some reason, when I quoted his comment, it didn't highlight, so it looks like I made that comment...believe me I didn't.

That's not gang graffitti though. Gang tags are usually just letters with no actual art to it.

I looked up the website on the builiding -- www.5ptz.com
This is an actual 'art' display which has the blessing of the building owner. Interesting read. The building is a wee bit too urban for my liking. I prefer water colors

Default Not to Sure

Hey John how are you. I acuatlly live in New Cassel and I would have to say over by post ave and around the train station has more MS13 activity than over in New cassel. People from over by Prospect ave. don't even bother to go down there because the of MS people. The are a couple of spanish gangs over here such as SWP and Southside and they are at odds with Ms13. So everyone just pretty much stays on their side. But Union ave down by Chicken delight is there hangout spot.

Most people just don't realize how dangerous MS-13 is and that they are quite entrenched into Long Island. I've seen tags in alot of towns, Westbury, New Cassel, Carle Place, East Hills (prob from the "help" they use),etc.
A neighbor of mine told me they were walking down Post ave last summer and they saw a guy dressed in blue and white with baggy jeans, when he pulled up his jeans she saw a revolver tucked in there.
This is the kind of stuff that scares me. To know that these savages are active on Post avenue is not a comforting thought.
I know it's much, much worse in New Cassel but as I see it spreading in along Maple and now onto Post I cant help but feel alarmed about it.

Union ave by Chicken Delight is pretty much "ground zero" for the gang activity as well as illegals. In the morning they are always loitering around looking to get picked up, in the evening they hang out and get drunk. I will agree that Union Ave + Maple ave area seem to be the worst spot when it comes to the illegals and gangs, however New Cassel has problems too.
I also noticed the window to Chicken Delight was broken, perhaps that had something to do with a shooting (or an accident caused by an unlicensed driver?).
They are building a new apartment building right around there, its gonna be a difficult sell for them considering the area.
Post ave by the train station aint no picnic either, they build this fancy condo building there with porches, but who in their right mind would move their when their porch overlooks a string of bodegas with gangs hanging out?

Although there have been few who have voiced concern over their safety because of the "illegals", not one of you has given any concrete example of a time when any harm was done to you or someone you know because of something an "illegal" did. So maybe its safe to say your concerns are unfounded?

But I guess everyone has forgotten the Ecuadorian man who was killed last November in Patchugoue (however u spell it) by seven Long Island teenagers - your precious native sons - because he was an immigrant who happened to be just walking the street alone at night

so who should really be worried about whom?

I just have a few more points to make:

1. Why do people ignore the obvious? Yes there's a surge in immigration but these people who come here are looking for the same thing your ancestors looked for - the elusive American Dream - but because our country does not have a decisive stance or clear-cut laws regarding their entrance into this country, they should be persecuted? (how quickly we forget our own personal history - besides the Native Americans, we are all immigrants...dumbasses)

2. Whether illegal or not, immigrants contribute a great deal to our failing economy...however you may feel about them....they buy into the consumerism bull crap too and contribute just as much as anyone else. They buy cars, clothes, food, and toys for their children just like you. *** And I recently read if it wasn't for surge of immigrants, long island's population would be in the negative percent...less people, less money coming in?

3. Yes, gang violence...any violence is a serious, serious problem. But it has absolutely nothing to do with any one group of people and everything to do with economic status and education level. Poorer, undereducated neighborhoods are going to have problems...on long island, in the city, alabama, kentucky...wherever u go..... so maybe some should harp on that instead of these "savages" as one dispicable individual called these newcomers....(btw john....are you sure there isn't some affordable retirement home or loony bin you could go to? Just asking...)

I am the only one that gets it?

but don't yal worry...the way things are going with property taxes, government corruption, and the general suckiness of long island, all the immigrants will leave long island soon enough. and you dopes can have it!
