Suffolk Meadows property
Is this public county parkland? Its in Yaphank and there's an abandoned LIE service road. I took a trip over there but the signs on the service road off E.Main say NO TRESSPASSING.
From what I understand it used to be a county owned horse track, but is now abandoned. It'd be cool to see how nature is "reclaiming" the track.
This is the only site I could find with info Suffolk Meadows
Looks scenic!

The last I remember, the property was bought by a developer who had planned on building a large mall or shopping area. From what I've found, I can only say it is safe to assume that this is private property.
Surfing around I found this legal document:
880 F.2d 1540
Once I read that, I saw the name of the original developer, Parr -- it was Parr Meadows way back when. Googling Parr Meadows I found the name of the developer - Wilbur Breslin.
Breslin had started bulldozing the property and made a huge mess of things:

So that's where they want to put the new mall, it was downsized but it's called Welcome to Brookhaven Walk.
Well that's a shame, I guess the site I listed earlier isn't up to date and should mention it's owned by a developer. I thought they used to have some county fairs there, I remember going to one in the 80s.
Bad enough they got to develop it, and you can't even go in there. Enjoying nature shouldn't be a crime.

So Breslin still has the land. I had to laugh when I read the demographics section because it lists the St James/Stony Brook area as being 15 miles = 18 minutes away. There are days it takes 18 mins to get from Museums at Stony Brook to the Port Jeff. Forget about Yaphank!

Thanks brassbin. I can lose hours doing such things if I am not careful.
