Now, how can you make a supposition like that? This is NOT the forum to rant against immigrants . There is one , though, on this very site.

It's a popular place for the folks to loiter...and most of the people seen at this park dont appear to be American citizens.

I preferred the dearly departed clamboy's terminology for it better..."FUCCO"
Also, very good posts in this thread by AlexisT and Anthony314! I would have quoted them, but they're pretty long.

I know Fake Stucco, or EIFS has nothing to do with the problems of Westbury as a whole... i just hate it and Post Ave recently had one of those Business Impovements done to it and almost all the stores installed EIFS. Even older buildings that had cute old brick designs - all covered with EIFS. I actually think it's significant because EIFS doesnt age well and it stains very easy. Take a look at the sign and facade on the kabab restaurant on the corner of Maple and Post. Look at the stains on the EIFS from water dripping from the AC and roof. It's just gonna look worse and worse as the years go by.

What is this based off of? Just because someone is Hispanic doesn't mean they aren't American citizens.

Smash there is no reason to debate with John. He makes wild assumptions and pulls "facts" out the air.
If you notice in this thread no one who lives in Westbury sees half of the things he does. I past that park on a regular basis and never seen groups of men getting drunk, bathing or any of the other random things john has "seen".
It is sad someone would work so hard to degrade a place.

It does happen. If it looks like a goose there is a good chance of a goose. I tried. But I cant continue this argument anymore. It is causing my great grief...so if you wonder why you wont see my posts about Westbury anymore...that's why.
All I can say is that I tried to make people aware of problems in my town, and not to degrade my town. But I guess everyone has suceeded in killing the messenger and I will stop. I just cant deal with it anymore. It seems few people have the courage to stand up...I did...and have nothing to show for it except getting people mad...which is not what I wanted to do.

My family (I'm 21 and live with my mom and her boyfriend and my little sister... don't make fun, I'm leaving soon...) moved to eastern Queens because Long Island just didn't fit our lifestyle. Three driving-age people to one car and we figured we didn't need a basement or backyard that never got used anyway, so we moved someplace where legal rentals are affordable and where public transportation isn't a total joke. What are LIers scared of density for? God forbid their neighborhoods are as nice as Flushing or Bayside. Give me a break.

Anyway, back to Westbury, my mom works in the high school and she hears all kinds of racist things from the parents there (who don't realize my really white-looking mom is actually hispanic, but she's used to it) who are worried about the changes in the neigborhood, so I guess John ain't the only one. I'd be worried too after hearing about middle-school kids involved in ms-13 killing each other, it's hard not to get PO'd at someone when senseless crap like that happens. They put on an amazing choral show at that school, by the way, which will probably disappear after all the black kids graduate and are replaced by central americans, but hey... that's life.
I wouldn't compare Post to Bell Blvd though. More like... Junction Blvd... haha.

I think you hit the nail on the head. A lot of this fear is just about "race". If any school ups their black or hispanic percentage by too much they are "ghetto" no matter the performance of the school.
Westbury schools have been improving year after year, and now have scores on par with many other Long Island schools, but are not recognized for this because of their color and economic status.

I had a few family members who lived in Bayside right by the Bay Terrace shopping center. The house was sold to settle an estate, and drew a very good price as the area is desirable. Bayside is very well kept, people take a lot of pride in the community. If I were forced to move to Queens, I would pick Bayside followed by Forest Hills.
LIers aren't scared of density; please understand that not everyone wants to live a clustered, urban lifestyle. My property out here is 3/4 of an acre and I would love to have more room to separate me from my nearest neighbors. Not that I don't like my neighbors, I do, but I enjoy planting and gardening and I am running out of room for paths, ponds and plants.
