As you probably know, EXPRESS SERVICE to Port Jefferson or Ronkonkoma means THREE HOURS PLUS...and on an average day !

There is NO exPRess To Port.
EXPress to RoNKO is 75min
Medford to Manhattan under 90 min could and should be A reality.

Well, technically, Port to Jamaica to Penn., morning and evening rush, then it's Penn, Jamaica, Port !

I dont see it on the schedule. What stops does your express train make?

If you look at the schedule posted above, you'll notice that westbound trains originating at Port Jefferson stop at basically every station along the line, and require at least one transfer. Express service means that there are minimal, if any, stops and zero transfers. Hence, there is no express service on the Port Jeff line, at least not from Port Jefferson.

Precisely my point...thank you Sean.
We really should have at least 90 min Service from 112 to Manhattan.
Medford seems to be the best option to electrify to since its already out to Ronkonkoma and fairly flat.If we can do 70 min from Ronkonkoma, 80 from Medford seems doable.Either way 2 hours from Port Jefferson aka Western Suffolk aka 55 mi away is nothing shy of a complete failure.
Steve Levy..where are you?

You both know they can barely keep THIS schedule.
Anything MORE would be overload !
When they first got the double-deckers, I heard two engineers talking, and one them related how, when they took the newly purchased double-decker on it's maiden voyage, from Port Jefferson, they had to stop, just outside of the tunnel, going into Penn, because...the train was too big for the tunnel ! The MTA purchased new trains TOO BIG for the tunnel !
As a joke, someone sent the purchaser of the trains, a large measuring stick. Big Joke !
