As a Jew and a past resident of the Hamlet of Jericho (where I was very active in one of the major civic associations), I know of which I speak: the Jericho community is very welcoming to secular, non-observant Jews and is not welcoming to Torah observant Jews.

Walter... as a former resident of Jericho and a fellow-Jew, I second your posting. Further, since graduating in the early 1980s the town has become much more diverse then it was 20+ yrs ago.
From citydata.com
Races in Jericho:
* White Non-Hispanic (84.6%)
* Korean (4.0%)
* Chinese (3.0%)
* Asian Indian (2.6%)
* Hispanic (2.4%)
* Black (1.4%)
* Two or more races (1.0%)
* Other race (0.5%)

I would have to third the comment that while Jericho is heavily Jewish, it's not observant, and certainly not friendly towards observant Jews. You want observant, you move to Plainview.
The school district boundary does not match the hamlet boundary, though, so be careful. At least some of those Westbury-zipcoded houses are in the Westbury SD (though fiddling with MLS seems to show that some are Hicksville). This is why so few people are aware that that section is technically Jericho; not only is it 11590, it's Westbury schools. (I actually know this area because my cousins grew up there.)

No, it is not Westbury Schools.
The part of the Jericho Union Free School District that is NOT in a village (Muttontown, Brookville, Upper Brookville, East Hills and Old Westbury) is coterminous with the Hamlet of Jericho, and this includes the West Jericho area that has a "Westbury, NY 11590" mailing address.
Part of the "Westbury, NY 11590" ZIP Code postal zone is in the Town of Oyster Bay and it is this area that is partly in the Hamlet of Jericho and the Jericho Union Free School District and partly in the Hamlet of Hicksville and the Hicksville Union Free School District.
I'm guessing from your brief comment that your cousins were in the Town of North Hempstead, not the Town of Oyster Bay, because no part of the Town of Oyster Bay that has a "Westbury, NY 11590" mailing address is in the Westbury Union Free School District, and more specifically your cousins were in the Hamlet of New Cassel ("Westbury, NY 11590" mailing address) in the Town of North Hempstead.

I rechecked, and I misread the map--the Jericho boundary is the Northern State Parkway. However, MLS lists some of these houses as "Jericho Gardens". The district line goes right through this area (thank you, MLS map search).
It's not New Cassel. Wrong side of the Wantagh Parkway. I think that the area is technically Hicksville. It's really hard to tell on these census maps, this is right on the border of 3 hamlets.

While Jericho Gardens has a "Jericho" name and a "Westbury, NY 11590" mailing address, it is in the Hamlet of Hicksville and the Hicksville Union Free School District.

Yes, but like I said, the district line goes through this area, and some of it (variously called Jericho Gardens and Westbury Hills by MLS) is, yes, in Westbury UFSD. We're really talking about a pretty small area here. (For those whose eyes haven't glazed over--between the Wantagh Pkwy, Northern State, and Cantiague Rock Rd) There aren't enough houses on MLS for me to confirm if the subdivision names line up with the district boundaries.
Not that it ultimately matters, just that I'm not wrong about the school district.

If your cousins were in the Westbury Union Free School District then they were in the Town of North Hempstead, not in the Town of Oyster Bay, and if they were in the Town of North Hempstead then they were in the Hamlet of New Cassel ("Westbury, NY 11590" mailing address) in the Town of North Hempstead.

For those who may not be familiar with New Cassel

Maybe the following map will be of some help ... ?
For those who may not be familiar with New Cassel:
New Cassel is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the extreme southeast section of the Town of North Hempstead, in the central part of Nassau County, where the Town of North Hempstead converges with the Town of Oyster Bay and the Town of Hempstead.
Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of New Cassel in the Town of North Hempstead is bordered on the north by the Village of Westbury, Town of North Hempstead and the Hamlet of Jericho, Town of Oyster Bay (the North Hempstead/Oyster Bay Town line); on the east by the Hamlet of Hicksville, Town of Oyster Bay (the North Hempstead/Oyster Bay Town line); on the south by the Hamlet of Salisbury, Town of Hempstead (the North Hempstead/Hempstead Town line); and, on the west by the Village of Westbury.
New Cassel is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the hamlet name in their mailing address: all places in the Hamlet of New Cassel have a "Westbury, NY 11590" mailing address.
For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

The majority of the people who live there have worked hard and continue to work hard to live in towns like these. They don't GET to live there. You make is sound like you GET a seat on an airplane.
There are disparaging things to say about Jews... and Christians, Muslims, Hindus, etc... but not all of them. Some are good, some are not.
Let's get back to real estate, folks.
