Some libraries even have cafes and many have fireplaces. Ours has a little room w/ an ever-blazing fireplace that is so cozy in the winter months with a big picture window looking out on the garden.

Our library delivers book to the homebound as a special service. I would imagine that is done by many libraries.

Would you mind sharing some of your favorite libraries? I would love one with a fireplace & cafe!! I could spend all day there.

Well, the Huntington Library is really very pretty, in the middle of a lovely village and in a beautiful old building. I can not think of a library that isn't wonderful, really, but then I love books. Some libraries are more modern which is not my taste , but each of them has something unique and you are able to take out books in any one of them.
Most libraries also have programs that feature local poets , movie night (some have real theatres) , trips , cooking courses and all sort of things. There are bookclubs and many things to do. You'll love your local library ....really.

Oh great! Huntington is just minutes from me! I'll explore other ones in the area too. It'll be fun seeing what the different libraries have to offer!

South Huntington opened a gorgeous new facility a few years ago--shortly after I left, in fact! The staff there are great, too. I spent a LOT of time in that library.

LI library facilities are really tops; it's one of the things where I feel we get value for every penny we spend.

my town has a TERRIFIC library & I'm a regular there. I love using the website to search for new books within the entire county system, then request them through the website. My library will call or email when the come in. Its the BEST!

Library districts are not immune to the same financial irregularities that affect school districts.

Of course, Walter, any entity can be corrupt. But I really do feel that when it comes to libraries we are getting what we pay for.
