Hi. My husband and I and our 10 month old son are seriously contemplating moving to Jericho (long island) ny. We are thinking about moving into a complex called the Hamlet or The Hunt Club. Does anyone know the area well and can give us some positive and/or negative feedback. It is much appreciated. thanks

I think the area is nice, good location, one of the best school disticts in the country. Population is pretty affluent. Large mix of Jewish and increasing mix of Asian (Indian, Korean, Chinese). This was one of the areas we narrowed down our search to. Hey, some people think if there's a Whole Foods in a neighborhood, it can't be that bad, so there you go...

Its a decent fairly upscale area - but you are right off the expressway and 25 jericho turnpike I know exactly the developement you are looking at. Very very busy a lot of traffic. Which I guess some people like because they can get on the Long Island expressway parking lot and be closer to commuting. Try looking in Huntington I lived there for 10 years and there is a glut of houses and probably a little more of a buyers market right now and probably will get better. North of 25a is very nice but 15 - 20 minutes off the expressway which is a good thing believe me.

To Jewish for my taste, I had enough Hell living in Manhasset. Great Neck Democrats people took over the town, built sewer lines, changed zoning, hired "friends" for BZA...and LOTS of friends
The tried to take the Deepdale Golf Club via Eminent domain to build a private Jewish center by the LIE. http://www.antonnews.com/manhassetpr...northhills.com
Jericho is worse but I guess if your not going to own a house and already are willing to live crowded it wont effect you.

I had enough !
I'm moving to Mattituck, no water lines, no sewers. Once a township gets those utilities installed builders SWARM. Peace and quality of life goes down the toilet schools flood and the taxes triple
