Default Short term rentals-Cental Eastern Nassau/Western Suffolk

Hi All
We purchased a house in Old Bethpage and are currently doing an extensive renovation prior to move in to the point we can't live in the house to it's completed.

Everything is being done legally, so inspections and all that entails is going on. Framing/Roof is completed and it's really moving along Plumbing and electrical start this week. We currently live in Manhattan and our lease is up in approx 5 weeks. Contractor is trying his best to complete as fast as possible (hoping to be done by late October). But I know how things work. In addition, my wife is due in December! We really don't want to move in until all the work is done as last phase includes painting and refinishing all the floors (fumes and all that for a pregnant woman)

On to my question! Based on the timeline and contractors I'm looking at end of November to move in (this assumes any delays-I'm padding a month here) I need to find a place to live from late sept to end of november.

We feel at least to get out to LI now and in the same general area , What are our options? I know rentals in general are not big, and for 2-3 months even less. While it's short term, still looking for a safe area to stay.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Month to Month rentals can be found. A lot depends on if you have pets or not. If you go through Real Estate and find something listed with Real Estate, remember there is still the fee. You will still have to leave the security they ask for even though it is short term. With these factors, you have to weight whether it's cheaper to stay at a per-day lodging area like Residence in Marriot (there is one in Plainview) or if you want to actually rent a place. Also, furnished or Unfurnished?

Is your wife's doctor out here or in Manhattan, and where is she planning to deliver? By November she'll be going to her OB/GYN or midwife at least weekly. Just one of the million things to consider...

No pets, Since we are moving from a 1 bedroom apartment to a house. I figured we would pack most of what we didn't need and place in the basement of the house. Whatever furniture + things we thought we needed we would move with. Does this make sense? It would mean "moving" two times and the expense involved.

We kind of planned the baby, and house at the same time (hoped to had finished house by labor day, but TOB had some changes which delayed everything for several months Now it's a race between the baby and the house) . My wife's doctor is in garden city or mineola - Delivering at winthrop, while a bit away from plainview old bethpage, that's where she wants to go.

We did some research and found 3 potential places to rent from :
Fairhaven - month to month ok 2 locations Woodbury & Hicksville. I know I will most likely be commuting from the hicksville station. Woodbury one is gated and more expensive. Avalon court - Melville seems slicker and nicer (and more expensive)

These seem pretty close to Old Bethpage. Anyone know anything about these properties, I know it's only likely to be 3 months, but with the stress of a move and a baby and the finishing touches on the house at the same time. I want to ate least not be living in a hole.

We are going to be checking out these areas this weekend, all offer month to month.
Hicksville seems to be the cheapest and is pretty close to the train station I expect to commute from. While it's short term - 2 1/2 months at most I looked into the extended stay options and they seem much more expensive. Fairhaven Woodbury would be approx 2k a month (1800+couple hundred for short term lease)
Extended stay hotel in bethpage would be close to 8k total!

Fairhaven - Woodbury
Fairhaven - Hicksville
Avalon court - Melville

Any suggestions?

Don't know if anyone cares, we ended up at Fairhaven in Woodbury with a 3 month lease. Coming from Manhattan, the apartments are huge! Place seems quiet, can't hear any neighbors through the walls. Maintenance comes quickly (no real issues) looks like constantly doing yard work too. All and all very happy with this choice for a short term rental and would not hesitate to recommend.

Quick drive to syosset or hicksville station (we looked at the Hicksville complex and my wife felt uncomfortable with it) Being close to the house has allowed us to deal with all the finishing touches (doing brickwork on driveway, tiling in bathroom, carpet, painting, etc) Glad I padded the time needed, looks like there won't be much time to settle in before baby though.

Thanks to all that replied.
