Please Help with Weekend Itinerary !! (Fire Island and South Fork)
Hi everyone!
I live on LI, but will be visiting the south fork and Fire Island for a weekend. 2 of us (siblings), no kids. Just having a fun tme.
My idea was
To leave on a Saturday morning, head out early to the Hamptons, enjoy the entire day on the south fork and then spend the night anywhere that has availability for one night, and then head out to Fire island the sunday morning.
(have only been once to one hampton town, so would like to see the nice parts, anything fun to do (not really going to sit on the beach, more walking around, nice lunch outside).
Is it crazy to drive out to montauk instead?
We're on the move kinda people, so a quick fun itinerary would be great.
Maybe see a winery. Is Raphael a fun one to see ? DO they have live music outside?
Any suggestions on how to break this down.
Does that make sense or is it unrealistic (South Fork one day, Fire Island next day).
Also any hotel suggestions betw Hamptons and Patchogue Ferries (we were recommended to go to Ocean beach which is from Patchogue, correct?)
also -is there any rollerblading on fire island ? (Im thinking of south beach, lol)
Thanks !

I am not sure why you are divying up the weekend, but that is up to you. Many east end hotels have a two night minimum during peak season, and the last week or two of August is as peak as they come. You may have trouble finding accomodations.
Montauk is lovely, but a long drive for what is basically a day trip if you are then back-tracking to a Fire Island ferry. East Hampton and Southampton have the nicest little towns. East Hampton, while only 10-15 miles from Southampton, could be a 45 minute trip on a Saturday afternoon.
Raphael, like most (but not all) of the wineries, is on the North Fork, not the south fork. Very many of the wineries have live music during the day on weekends.

The Ocean beach ferry leaves from Bay Shore. Davis Park/Watch Hill ferries leave from Patchogue.
