I believe the 06-07 scores are the "new" scores just released.

The 2008 scores have not been published yet. The results are taken from Sunday's paper which are the 2006-2007 test scores.

The ones I'm finding online are different than what Newsday said. NB was definitely lower than Brentwood. Check out the actual newspaper.

I have the actual newspaper which is delivered to my home weekly. As I said before, the results are from this past Sunday's paper which are the '06 - '07 test scores.

Here is a tidbit from today's paper. Not academic but impressive none the less.

West Babylon High School rated nation's healthiest -- Newsday.com (broken link)

Yeah, it's a huge difference between Babylon and NB. According to test scores, NB seems to be in the same caliber as Copaigue and Brentwood. Not very impressive at all.

That's right, Babylon is a great district. I see you have checked your paper and noted that NB did not score lower than Brentwood. So now your comeback is that they're of the same "caliber". The fact of the matter is that you post before thinking and you do not check your facts. Furthermore, you bash on communities in which you have never lived and to make matters worse you don't even reside on the island. Remember that these are our homes, where we choose to raise our children and we are VERY proud. Regardless of the scores and comparisons, the children in all of the districts worked hard to achieve them and you should never shoot them down. As one educator to another, shame on you. As a teacher you should also know that a test score never shows the true potential of a student. NB is a great place to live and I am very impressed!

I said they're in the same caliber as Brentwood and Copaigue because all their test scores are within 2-3% of one another. All of them seem to fall at least 10% lower than most school districts in Suffolk. Compared to Nassau..cmon now, Uniondale has better scores than NB. It's no question if Babylon SD is better than NB SD. Here's the statistics for Babylon: 95% 64% 96% 96% 95%. Compare that to 74% 33% 77% 76% 67%.. They aren't even in the same league.

To the OP--you would benefit from staying in any other town in Babylon.

That's right, Babylon High School did attain higher test scores than NB. Does that make it a better district? Maybe, maybe not. There are a lot more factors involved. If you were a parent you would know that and as a teacher you should know it. However, your initial comparison was between Brentwood and NB with which you were inaccurate. By the way, the rambling of numbers that you posted do not match that of the Newsday.
