Face it, NB is one of the worst districts in Suffolk County. Yes, I'm a teacher, but I wouldn't want my future children going to a school that has some of the lowest scores in the county. I wouldn't mind if they went to a school where the scores were just average, but I won't be like a lot of parents who aim to send their kids to the best schools in the area. I'm not clueless about this stuff. I know a child's success mostly comes at home, but when colleges see where your child went to school, that plays a factor in if they get accepted or not. If they have one of the best averages in a not as good high school, their chances are slimmer compared to a child whose scores are just average at a fairly good school.

You can defend NB as much as you want (you're probably nbres on another name), but it has higher crime than the other Babylon towns. I'm just telling the OP that the other towns would be much better. Test scores say a lot about a district. As a teacher, you should know that. Look at the other comparisons to the Suffolk county districts and you will see it's one of the lowest ones, right next to Brentwood and Copaigue. I'm finished with this discussion. The OP can make that decision for themselves.

I have 3 friends in NB all professional while they admit it is not like Commack or three village they still like it and there children are doing well. My friend graduated there as well as her sisters and one is an accountant CW post graduate, one is a teacher one is a nurse and one works on wall street. They all went to four year schools and you want to know something some of the best doctors went to SUNY.

I'm sure there are plenty of kids form CI and Hempstead who went on to good college and business careers. If you and your kid stay focused, you can do well almost anywhere. There are good teachers in every district on LI. That's not the point. The point is, your kids in NB will have more nonsense to deal with than kids in Commack.

Just to reiterate, I grew up in NB and I did not like the schools myself, but they were not horrible (at least when I went there) and the area was not that bad. I never got hurt in the schools and I think I turned out pretty good, went to a good college, got a good job, etc. Kids who wanted to do well did well. NB has a number of decent areas, such as the areas behind Sunset City and by Sylvan Road. There are also a lot of good businesses, restaurants, etc. I think West Babylon has the advantage as they have better schools. I think folks are perhaps being a bit too harsh on NB...it has it's faults for sure and the school scores are mediocre, but there are certainly worse places to live!
And, this is just a foolish statement: "you would benefit from staying in any other town in Babylon." C'mon now, you can't be serious!
