Some truth in your post does shine through many N Shore Long Islanders HAVE actually been driven nuts by never ending wave of fallout from the city and MidEastern people.

(Yawning) Zzzzzz .... do you listen to yourself? You promote hate and all that anger inside is really unhealthy. I have to skim your comments because you repeat yourself over and over. It's really getting old and boring. I feel sorry for you. You sound lonely and very bitter. This will be the last time I waste my energy responding to your childish tantrums

Grow up...your 46, you know better

Good luck, I really do hope you find the help you need

Long Island has beautiful beaches, great proximity to NYC and many nice small communities with excellent schools. The problems on LI ,that are mentioned, are due to concentration. The area is, logistally speaking, border challenged. You really can't expect any affordable housing due to the lack of building possiblilities. LI border's consist of the LI Sound, Manhattan and the Atlantic Ocean. No where else to go, coupled with NIMBYism, Pine Barren's protection issues, high taxes, unions, utilities etc...it is a wonder any business can stay and remain profitable. There is a population contraction that numbers in the thousands ( http.//enterprise.star-telegram.com ) . This is why we made our move last year to a growing area- Raleigh NC. They don't have the same issues like LI and there is a positive migration to this area. There are jobs and hope for my husband's business and it feels good. It is very hard to leave family and hard to sell your home in the Northeast- but it's worth the hope for our, and especially my children's, future.

Perhaps if you read his comments more carefully, you would see that his anger is quite justified by the political corruption that goes on around here.

I'm 48, and I'm not about to "get over it." I think males in this country, in particular, are getting a little too conditioned to "get over" things.

Default What's interesting

Young men have this new sport. They have a name for it. I forget what it is.

They throw themselves, bodily, at fences like they weren't there, and bust right through them.

Pretty silly, huh? However, it recently occurred to me that this act has a certain symbolism. Perhaps, they would all benefit from one of these potions dispensed by the pharmaceutical industry, making for themselves only a modest multi-billion dollar profit.

Then again, perhaps not.

The one thing that is happening now more than ever, is the unbelievable amount of litter that is along our roadways. I rode behind a car three days ago leaving Nichols Road heading south onto Patchogue-Holbrook Road. As we sat on the exit ramp waiting for the light to change, as soon as the light did indeed change to green, down went the window of the car ahead of me, and out flew a bag from McDonalds!!!!!!! It amazes me how a person can do something like that and not even realize the disgusting nature of that action. I wanted so hard to just catch up to them and roll my window down and say "what the hell are you doing?" But in this day and age, even though that is where my head was at, I didn't want my kids to not have a mother. You never know with people these days. That and outrageous home taxes (we currently pay $12,000 a year for our taxes), along with unbelievable LIPA bills ($400 a month) and virtually no services for those taxes, makes it no longer a great place to live. Yeah, we have beautiful beaches and the Hamptons, (if you can afford to live there), and NYC (although most people hardly ever even go into the city), but there are a lot of places that have these things. Just my thoughts.......................

I suppose, partly, young people are getting the message that if they want to live here, they're going to have to be stockbrokers or plastic surgeons or something. A lot of people aren't built for that. So, why should they give a rat's patoot?

History has taught us more than once the price of creating a class of dispossessed youth.
