After a quick look on MLSLI here's an armchair tour of The Good Life
Bay Shore south of Montauk Highway:
MLSLI.com - Find a Home
MLSLI.com - Find a Home (this one is in the Islip SD, since it's in the extreme eastern end of Bay Shore)
MLSLI.com - Find a Home
MLSLI.com - Find a Home
There are a number of south-Bay-Shore homes on MLS for 700K and up. And for pure drooling, there's
MLSLI.com - Find a Home
In West Bay Shore, just north of Montauk Highway:
MLSLI.com - Find a Home
and on the same street (!) there is:
MLSLI.com - Find a Home
In Brightwaters, around the Concourse Canal/Lake area (Windsor Ave & Montauk Highway):
MLSLI.com - Find a Home
MLSLI.com - Find a Home

The Good Life Indeed!
Thanks!
Boy, do I feel your pain, LI. Those property taxes on houses in the 8ooK range are truly staggering compared to Portland! My taxes are almost half.
Thank you again.

What About Lindehurst. It's the Town next to Bablylon. I'm not sure of property taxes, but they were always lower than Babylon. It does have homes on the Water, at Affordable Prices.

For those who may not be familiar with Lindenhurst:
Lindenhurst is a village (incorporated in 1923) in the south part of the Town of Babylon, in the southwest part of Suffolk County.
Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Village of Lindenhurst in the Town of Babylon is bordered on the north by the Hamlet of North Lindenhurst; on the east by the Hamlet of West Babylon; on the south by the Great South Bay; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Copiague and the Hamlet of North Amityville.
The Village of Lindenhurst has a different border than does the "Lindenhurst, NY 11757" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Lindenhurst, NY 11757" mailing address and not be in the Village of Lindenhurst and a place can have other than a "Lindenhurst, NY 11757" mailing address and be in the Village of Lindenhurst): places that have a "Lindenhurst, NY 11757" mailing address that are not in the Village of Lindenhurst are in the Hamlet of North Lindenhurst; and, at the same time, there are places in the Village of Lindenhurst with a "West Babylon, NY 11704" mailing address.
For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

But Bay Shore from Main Street south to the water is a real success story. Also, Bay Shore abuts Brightwaters on the west, which has never had problems as far as I know (and the homes surrounding the lake and the Concourse canal are extremely desirable).

The Admiralty in Bayshore is nothing to sneeze at, either.

That shouldve been on the short list early.

West Babylon
