Mineola is lower rung Nassau in terms of school. Port Washington, Roslyn, Great Neck are good towns. How about Douglaston Queens.

Budget is important. You're not getting anything cheap in those areas.

There are some nice condos and co-ops in Lynbrook. Walking distance to the train and a very good school district.

How about Bayside? Plenty of co-ops and condos there. Very affordable. Good schools and less than 20 minutes to Penn.

If you can swing it financially, The Bay club in Bayside, n.y. (queens)---it is a luxury gated community with indoor pool, basketball, restaurant, salon, convenience store, dry cleaners, concierge, doormen, valet parking, billiards, playroom, massage room etc.---they also offer a shuttle to the train station with a 15-20 minute commute into penn station. The little kids school in the area is suppossed to be a good school. A 2 bedroom apt will most likely run you approx. $2800.00 month plus utilities...good luck,.
