Busy street
I'm sure the "surrounding" area is nice but if you're asking specifically about living ON Woodside Ave...that would be a strong "NO!" from me. I take Woodside to work and always think to myself that I'd hate to live on that street. It's 2 lanes each way and is much too busy to suit me. Might depend on where you're moving from tho...maybe a busy street is better than where you are now??!

Pat-Med. The only part of Medford that is South Country is to the south of Stop and Shop/Sunshine Square, and north of Woodside (the two Farber developments on both sides of 101.) Once you get into the Pines, it's Pat-Med.
South of Woodside (west of 101) is East Patchogue, south of Woodside east of 101 is Bellport.
As for Woodside, it's somewhat busy, but not crazy like other highways around (like 112, Horseblock, William Floyd, and Middle Country).

Gosh Woodside is a very busy and fast road. Some is South Country and some is Pat/Med.
Honestly, I know someone that lives near there and it always seems to me that there are way to many car accidents around that area.

Across from the PMYSL soccer fields is a town landfill with a horrible stink. Make sure you check the area with your car windows open!

I'm not sure it's a landfill...more like some sort of sewage place...and yes, driving by on the way home from work can sometimes be really stinky!! Down the road a piece (towards Horseblock) is the actual Brookhaven landfill and that can be awfully smelly also. So besides lots of traffic (again, specific to Woodside Ave itself) you have nose assault. Can't speak to the side-roads, tho...looks like there might be some nice housing in there. Just be sure to check it out thoroughly...with car windows open on a muggy day!

For those who may not be familiar with Medford
From the map of the Hamlet of Medford, Woodside Avenue is the southern border of Medford, separating Medford from the Hamlet of East Patchogue.
For those who may not be familiar with Medford:
Medford is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the central-south part of the Town of Brookhaven, in the central part of Suffolk County.
Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of Medford in the Town of Brookhaven is bordered on the north by the Hamlet of Coram and the Hamlet of Gordon Heights; on the east by the Hamlet of Yaphank and the Hamlet of North Bellport; on the south by the Hamlet of East Patchogue; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Holtsville and the Hamlet of Farmingville.
The Hamlet of Medford has a different border than does the "Medford, NY 11763" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Medford, NY 11763" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of Medford and a place can have other than a "Medford, NY 11763" mailing address and be in the Hamlet of Medford): places that have a "Medford, NY 11763" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Medford are in the Hamlet of North Bellport, the Hamlet of Yaphank and the Hamlet of Gordon Heights; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Medford with a "Yaphank, NY 11980" and "Farmingville, NY 11738" mailing address.
