Freeport down by the water, yes. As long as you do not need to use the school district

Farmingdale has some nice neighborhoods and a nice downtown. The scores in the Regent exams are pretty good. One area I particularly liked was on the south side of Bethpage State Park. I think the area is called Farmingdale Hills.

I always thought that was Bethpage....Farmingdale village is what I'm referring to. There are guys loitering everywhere there.

thanks a lot guys, i saw a lot of houses there selling for too cheap of prices. so i figured there must be a catch.
school district is not important right now, atleast for next 5 years(have no kids yet). however, i would rather buy into a nicer SD rather than in a bad one and buy again in 5 years. I am not familiar with most areas of Nassau. i hope you won't mind, if i keep asking you guys in this thread about neighborhoods. How is: New Hyde Park 11040 Mineola 11501 Williston Park 11596 would you recommend that i buy in a village or should i rather buy where its not in a village? The area directly south of Bethpage State Park is part of Farmingdale. I checked MLS and it appears that is called Lenox Hills. I've haven't spent much time in the village but in the brief time I was there I didn't notice loiterers.

You can't make a blanket statement about villages or not, it all depends on the individual village.
The areas above are a lot better than the first set you listed. Williston Park is split between Herricks and Mineola SDs; the former is better rated. IIRC, a substantial portion of the New Hyde Park postal zone is not in the Village of New Hyde Park. Several districts serve the area. |
