I don't have kids in either district but based on friends/neighbors in both I think the perceived gap between them is greater than the actual one.

According to GreatSchools.org; Malverne School District and Baldwin School District have the exact same rating as Oceanside School District (their rating is based off of test scores and school/student performance); so i'm curious as to why people think Oceanside's SD is a lot better than Baldwins or Malverne's.

Baldwin SD: Baldwin Union Free School District in Baldwin, NY | GreatSchools
Malverne SD: Malverne Union Free School District in Malverne, NY | GreatSchools
Oceanside SD: Oceanside Union Free School District in Oceanside, NY | GreatSchools
(^^ All three districts got a ranking of 7/10)

So i'm curious as to what makes Oceanside SD so much better than Baldwin SD and Malverne SD? I ask since it seems like some users here say to avoid Malverne School District as if it was the plague or somethin!

In summary, if buying in RVC, stick with the RVC schools or Oceanside. The others will not hold value as well.

Just north of Sunrise and south of Lakeview is nice. Walk to LIRR and all shops, movies, bowling, village green, library. no need for car.

Wilson is great part of town. Covert is near Hempstead and is actually part of S. Hempstead but some RVC residents go there and it is a RVC school. Watson is a great school, kind of small like a private school. It's also a block from the library

RVC is separated from Malverne/Lakeview by Penninsula BLVD, a big thoroughfare. RVC buffered by S. Hempstead (nice - near Molloy College) and then separated from Hempstead by the Southern State. If you are concerned about unsavory folk, you know they can travel anywhere, GC and RVC included. RVC has it's own fabulous police department. I'm not sure if GC does? There were a lot of cutbacks and we lost a few precincts. (I'm not sure how they will organize that) But RVC has, imho, a great PD.
