We can thank favorable demographics, including a population in general that values education.

Totally.
Look at the economics of that list.
Hooray for the brutally high taxes.

I see Bridgeport on that list. I always thought Bridgeport was a shady town. No?

Bridgeport is all poverty...Norwalk has south Norwalk and the public housing issues, and even Stamford has its tough areas. In those towns it is either a very wealthy or public assistance population...once you factor in Fairfield, Greenwich, Ridgefield, New Canaan, etc, though that metro area most certainly starts to play out as statistically very safe. Irony that it makes the safe list but you would not send your child to either of those three high schools if you had the choice.

I think they are talking about Fairfield County based on the way they broke out New Haven.
Who knows.

It's lumped in with Stamford and Norwalk, so it gets a boost...
It does have quite a bit of poverty... but maybe poverty doesn't always equate with crime???
