Your best bet would be to find a home that is located north of Vets Highway and south of the R/R tracks. Thats not a bad area and it has Connetquot schools.
Good luck

For those who may not be familiar with Islandia
It's my understanding that there is no "Islandia, NY" ZIP Code postal zone, and, because of this, all places in Islandia have other than an "Islandia, NY" mailing address; thus, it may be helpful to have a map showing the boundaries of the Village of Islandia:
For those who may not be familiar with Islandia:
Islandia is a village (incorporated in 1985) in the north-central section of the Town of Islip, in the southwest part of Suffolk County.
Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Village of Islandia in the Town of Islip is bordered on the north by Hamlet of Hauppauge; on the east by the Hamlet of Ronkonkoma; on the south by the Hamlet of Ronkonkoma and the Hamlet of Central Islip; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Central Islip and the Hamlet of Hauppauge.
Islandia is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the village name in their mailing address: places in the Village of Islandia have a "Hauppauge, NY 11788 and 11760" and "Central Islip, NY 11722 and 11749" mailing address.
For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

School District
Hi,
I did want to advise anyone looking for a house now in Islandia, can get a bargain. Most homes are well-kept, and there are housing codes that are strictly adhered to thanks to the new Mayor of the Village. Islandia is a community of single family homes and condominiums.
There are 3 School districts, Hauppauge, Connetquot, and Central Islip.
Also 3 Fire Districts, Hauppauge, Lakeland, and Central Islip.
There are many community events held in the Village, and just on 10/18/08 we attended the 4th Annual Pumpkin Event with Craft Fair and I am told over 1000 people attended. There are also Christmas, Easter, and barbeque events, a community garden, and may ways to get involved. It may be worth your while to drive around the neighborhood, and see for yourself the vast improvements that we have seen going on.

joandee, Do you live in Islandia? If so which school district are you?
The problem is the area i was interested in is Central Islip schools.....:-(
If my husband and i were to have kids we could always send them to private school, but resale would stink! Plus private school costs $ and public doesn't.
What do you mean when you say the village? Where is the islandia village?

This is true, but there are VERY few Islandia homes in the other 2 districts. The majority are in Central Islip SD.
If you look on mls, there are currently 50 homes for sale in Islandia and all 50 are in the CI sd.
So to the original poster, if you are planning on having kids and looking for a better sd than CI, you may want to expand your search..
