Usually if sold for a song, it went to a relative...Sometimes it is noted as 'not an arm length transaction' sometimes not....Seems like you've got someone helping you. You could always go to Riverhead for the records if you really needed to know....

Very low price = Could also have been a Short Sale - banks have become more amenable to accepting less than they're owed than in the past. Last year, it was extremely difficult, now they're beginning to listen to reason.

Exactly, either go to Riverhead (which can be a pain--been there, done that) or ask a friendly Realtor (there are a few of us here, just send a PM).
