Please help-need rental advice! (New York, Huntington: apartment, rentals, how much)

I am looking (frantically) for a yr round rental in eastern Suffolk- LIE Exit 68 and beyond. It needs to be pet friendly and in a safe area, not a busy main road. I was buying a house but have run into problems and need to move ASAP! .
Does anyone know of any decent rentals under 2 grand a month or can anyone guide me to realtors that deal with alot of rentals out there?
I'm not living on LI right now so I can't just get in my car and stop at realtors. If I get a few prospects I will take a ride in.

not quite as far out as you mentioned but I've had good experience with an Avalon rental in the past (and they do allow pets - though there is usually a pet deposit required)

there are two in Coram:

how many bedrooms?? I know they have an appt complex on a golf course in manorville/moriches are. I don't know how much they're going for, I'm pretty sure it'll be in your range

BTW- does anyone know how to get someone's cell phone number? Is there some kind of directory or some website on the web? I know of one house that may work out but I have no way to reach the person! Ugh!

Hi, try searching MLSLI.com in the rental section, search the town 'Ridge' there are several small homes in a rustic setting there for rent in your range. You can also do the same search for surrounding areas like wading river, baiting hollo, manorville.
Try craigslist too

Thanks to you all for the suggestions. I am off Tuesday and will do some web searching and phone calls. I am extending my lease here another month (ugh) so I have a little more time to look. Then I'll make appts to go to the Island and see them.

They don't have (public) directories for cell phones yet (give it time LOL).

However, if you have the exact name and an address, you can go on
zabasearch.com (they have a free section) and possibly get a phone number.
Worth a try?

Hampton Bays is a little further out than I want to be right away. I will have to commute to either Farmingdale or Huntington till early next year. I have lived in Hampton Bays on a cove and loved it.

I'll be on the island next week to see houses. I did get more respones than I expected because I have mutiple pets. Animals are my life and my work.
