Question Valley Stream

I am moving to NY and looking to rent something short term with easy commute to Manhattan. I don't have time to come and check out the areas. I am looking at a place called Valley Park Estate in North Valley stream with 7 minute drive to the LIRR.
Q1: Is this a good (safe and peaceful) area to live in?
Q2: Are there enough parking spaces near the Valley Stream station?

There are a lot of spaces near the VS train station if you're catching a train up until the 7:45am to Penn. After that, you need some luck or quarters for the metered lot at Rockaway Ave. ($0.25/hour).

I own a rental property in VS, use to live there myself. Nice area but I would advise to stick to the area bordering Lynbrook, you want to stay away from the area bordering Elmont.

Do you have kids? The school district that complex is assigned to has a bad reputation and the majority opinion of it is that it is in need of improvement.

In the past when that was rental apartments (over 10 years ago) my dad advised me and my husband not to live there because there was a lot of crime (car thefts, etc.). I don't know how it is now. Maybe it's gotten better. Perhaps you should call the police precinct and ask them about crime at that complex nowadays. Here is the phone number of Nassau County's Fifth Precinct: 516-573-6500.

I am going to send you a PM about another possible rental opportunity in Valley Stream that I know of. (No, I am not a real estate agent; just looking to help out.)

just keep in mind valley park estates aren't park of the incorporated village, & they won't give you a resident parking permit for the train station.

they're also sold out of non resident passes until april. none of which i learned until i was at my closing for a place in valley park estates.
