I have plans to work in Island Park anytime next week. I need a room which I could rent temporarily for 3-6 months which is just a few meters away from the railroad station. I practically don't know anything about the area. Is it safe to go home at 11P or past 11P after my duty hours? What are the stores available in the area?

I'd suggest Roslyn Heights with East Williston schools. Otherwise Garden City, Great Neck, Manhasset, Rockville Centre, and Roslyn will all serve you well.

I second this! Easily my favourite place on LI! (I said place b/c I know that if I called it a town or something Walter would feel the need to correct me).

Meters, lol. We don't use the metric system here in the USA.
