Schmitt's in Melville/Huntington...White Post is always a good bet...or for more country flavor, ride out to Fink's Farm in Manorville/Calverton. Little less congested. Maybe Milk Pail around Bridgehampton.

There are many..depends on how far East you want to go. There is one in Melville, but that's stuck in the middle of a new housing development. There are pumpkin fields out in Yaphank, Bridgehampton, Riverhead. One in Bridgehampton is called the Milk Pail. It's on Mecox Road.

We just went to Stakeys in Abequogue (sp?)...it is fantastic. There are more pumpkins than you would believe...all of LI is having a banner year from what I understand. At Stakeys...all the pumpkins you can carry in your arms is $25...then it's 0.55/pound beyond that. My wife and kids loaded me up and I figure we saved about $4 over just weighing them. Nice!!

We also bought some squash and stuff from a roadside stand in Ridge.

I would try to avoid it on a weekend though or at least go early...it's insanely crowded.

Theres no shortage...just drive along Sound Ave or Rt 25 on the north fork and you'll be inundated!!

For years we went to what had been a favorite farm to pick pumpkins. Three years ago we stopped at Stakey's on the way home from a trip to a winery and couldn't believe what we'd been missing. They have two huge fields of pumpkins and all the "other" trappings as well.

For what it costs, for what you get, for ambiance and selection this is the best place possible.

As a matter of fact we've missed going since we relocated away from Long Island and were planning a trip back there just to go again; unfortunately something came up that forced us to cancel but we'll try again next year.

we went to white post farm in huntington over the weekend - they are having their fall festival now which is really nice for the whole family. $15.00 per person--kids shows, lots of unique playgrounds, bouncers - feed the animals and pony rides (addt'l cost) and of course pumpkins to pick---nice store for some home baked goods...nice day.
