Long Island has an "every man for themselves" attitude, moreso than any other community in the NYC area. I, for one, would hate to live there. Traffic is horrid, people are either very trashy or very wealthy Jewish families (nothing against Jewish families, as I am Jewish myself).

I love Connecticut because people are a little more polite, but more reserved. Many towns in the area are quite pretentious, but still lack the attitude of the average Long Islander.
I work in Stamford but live in Long Island.. I hate Connecticut because there's no shopping and no good restaurants. I have to drive around all day to find a decent place to eat. You're right about trashy people in Long Island but you should see the trashy people in Stamford

I live in Suffolk County.. I emphatize with you and your daughter if they disrespected you in such a manner. They should know better.. We're all a stone throw away from being disabled.. Shame on them

My sympathies, as well. My brother was disabled, he got similar treatment sometimes.

On LI, different = "weird"

They seem very fond of that word.

Mom - I am so sorry you had to go through that. I live on Long Island in Suffolk County. For part of my career I used to work as a job coach to disabled individuals and would have to deal with that type of ignorace on a daily basis just to find my clients jobs on the Island. It is a shame that people stoop to that level. In today's world we should all be teaching tolerance and love and that despite our differences we are all the same loving human beings. It is just sad that those parents are raising hateful children by their example.

Even better put some $$ down on one of them 600 buildings….BURP BURP !! work barracks in Sunnyside “The King” Moderator cut: rude image (cartoon photo of Mike Bloomberg wearing an imperial crown)

If turning old neighborhoods into diverse mini Manhattan’s, Tijuana's and Hamadân’s is so great why are so many people against this "dirversity?
My friend, I am not in the least interested in "taking over." Unfortunately, I work here. The third track on the LIRR would make it possible for me to continue working here...and I wouldn't have to live here!

Typical long island people. Some of the worst quality people I've ever seen in my life. I grew up and went to school with these types of kids, and I was always shocked at how they treated each other and how they have no respect for anything including their parents who raise these spoiled kids. Horrible people, I am glad I am an immigrant, and if it was up to me I would have never come to this country, let alone long island.

I take offense at your constant complaining and bad mouthing of Long Island People. Do yourself and us a big favor and get out!
We don't want or need people like you here.

Default Longggg Guyland

Unfortunately, after travelling around this fair country and living in several different places (East and West), as well as having gown up in Europe, I do have to admit that there are no others like Long Guylanders - the rudest, most tasteless bunch of materialistic loudmouths in the entire world. The place sets the ultimate standard in low standards - and all with that utterly grating accent. Glad not to be anywhere near the place anymore. As for trying to compare it with Connecticut- wow. Your tastebuds must have really atrophied - perhaps you really do like that over-done pasta and tomatoes that passes for Italian food or the quick serve delis that buy their supplies from Costco.

Ha, ha, ha!

Another vote for retrofitting LI into a practice range for the naval artillery?

you must have grown up like one of the kids i described, otherwise you wouldn't need to be offended, in that case, i am glad you are offended.
