Most people on long Island are hard working, friendly ,nice people who all want the same things; good schools for their kids, food in their refrigerator ,and finding a good diner ! Of course snobbery is not special to Long Island..
Of course there will always be those dillusional people who think they are part of the novue riche and who look down on others. You can find them anywhere. However their dillusional state is often cured by one big stock market drop, when they are forced to sell their shares in google ,and revaluate their lives. It may even force them to do all kinds of horrible things, like shop in a dollar store in a "depressed area" Oh NO !!!!!!!! !!!

There are some people in this country who live beyond their means in a $90K house. What's your point? You telling us anything new?
So what if people are delusional. Perhaps you're delusional too; for thinking that everyone is living beyond their means. But of course you know everyone's financial situation, including what kind of car they drive.
That chip on your shoulder is getting more pronounced.

That’s what, I’m doing.
I already paid for my new house,
Some Wall Street jerk behind the wheel of a Benz with a cell phone pressed to his ear will buy it. That or one of these these Mid Eastern ethnic's with new ideas imported by North Shore-LIJ hospital can put in a mini Tahjma Hall.

You sure cant go by newspaper reviews since those are "paid for"
About 10 years ago after reading Newsday’s great review on "Honest Diner" in Amagansett we went there for breakfast and it was discussing.
The pancakes were dry and tasted like grease
I haven’t been to a Diner since. All every time I have went they handed me mash potatoes made with chicken stock or have illeagles in the kitchen.
I cook myself, girlfriend cooks eating out is a HUGE waste of money.
One of my friends has this wives that refuses to cook or drive a car over 2 year sold. He works 12 hours a day to spend his money on her, she tried to hit on me 2x last summer drunk at a pool party!
First off I would never marry one of these princess piece of craps. How could anybody be that crazy or desperate.
It amazes me how such stupid people can bring in the $$ they do without robbing banks.

I think eating out is abig waste of money too! Last night we ate at a chain rib place, we do not eat out often, because we have a large family, however the bill was 150.00, and the food was fair. I am sticking to Pizza once in a while and home cooked for sure. I know a lot of waoman like you described Joe, and they make me crazy a guy who my husband worked with, his wife did not cook for 3 months after she gave birth to her 3rd child, meanwhile she did not have a sugical delivery they ate take home every night, now I can understand the simple meals after giving birth but meals from TGIF and Applebees everynight for 3 months?

Thats insane !!
Last week my sister left a doggy bag from TGI Fridays, one bite sent my head spinning ! I't was like eating pure salt. This was AFTER scraping off the greasy slab of bacon and cheese. I couldnt even eat the frys, whatever that salty grit crap sprinkled on them was.
How the heck any human can devolop a tolarance to that much salt I have no idea.
Kids who are teens no are going to end up needing Quadruple bypass by age 40.
Parents should be thrown in jail & places should be banned for serving poison.
I make my own pizza, the trick is to get some slate roofing slabs, do a good wash and rub with olive oil and cornmeal. Put them in the oven at 500 and to season them, open you windows when they they smoke there done. Then let cool and scrap them off.
Do not use "pizza sauce" "pizza crust" sold in stores us Pope tomato pure with a little oregano. use a little olive oil and suger to make the dough.
Slide the pizza's into the oven tiles on a piece of cardboard sprinkled with cornmeal.
I make a dozen 12 inch at a time on plates. I then put in the freezer 10 minute still "stiff" then wrap and stack like pancakes in the freezer.
I even make my own wine, grappa and brandy.
For what these hoggish stuffys spend 1 year eating out around here "Manhasset" I could buy a classic car..... and I HAVE TWO !
A 71 Vette and 72 Cuda that go up in value.
You wont find me driving a Beamer holding Treo to my ear, whoever does has permission to bat me !

I'm a newbie, reading these comments about LI is a little dauting. I hope we didn't make a mistake. I've made a couple of new threads about finding info about the area we're going to be moving to. Thankfully, we've recieved some postive comments about it. Unfortunately, the prices in Bayside, Queens is overpriced and you get little property. This was one of the biggest reasons why we decided to move to LI. The drawback is the taxes are much higher. Its like rent, it keeps going up and there's nothing you can do about it.

LOL!!! I love your sense of humor. I never understood why someone would buy a beamer or a hummer only to sit on the LIE in traffic ??
Your pizza sounds good. you make your own wine? my grandpa use to do that... ! Ive been told I make a damn good roast beef.. thats my only claim to cooking fame..LOL! but my husband loves it... There just isnt any substitute for good home cookin.. we are trying to eat healthier anyway.. less potatoes, more veggies and lean meats, fish.. Hey, do you know of a really good fish store around here ??
I must admit though,. once in a while we eat breakfast out.. the William Floyd Diner serves a very good breakfast at reasonable prices..
